85 Warriors named to MAC Academic Honor Roll for winter and spring sports

2016 Jul 11

A record group of 148 Lycoming College student-athletes earned a slot on the MAC Academic Honor Roll in 2015-16, with a large group of 85 earning slots on the winter and spring honor rolls including Samantha Fischer, a sophomore anatomy and physiology major from Williamsport, Pa. for participation in softball.

Eight of Lycoming's 11 winter and spring athletic programs set or tied program records for Academic Honor Roll selections. Women's basketball (7), men's swimming (7), wrestling (9), men's lacrosse (8), women's lacrosse (11) and softball (11) all set program records, while men's tennis (6) and women's tennis (6) both tied their high-water marks for academic honor roll picks.

The Warriors added to their total of 63 honor roll selections from the fall semester, giving them a total of 148 selections in 2015-16, more than 50 percent greater than the school's previous best of 90 during the 2012-13 academic year.

The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who compete in a varsity level sport and registered a term/semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher. Beginning in 2015-16, the MAC is allowing freshman to be eligible for the conference academic honor roll. (Prior to 2015-16, only student-athletes with a sophomore academic status or higher with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher prior to the semester of announcement were recognized.)
