2017 Jun 8

Lycoming College senior Nolan Barger (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield Area) and junior Brandon Conrad (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) have repeated as members of the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 honors on the association's at-large team, the organization announced on Thursday, May 11.

The at-large category groups multiple sports, including golf, tennis, lacrosse, rifle, swimming & diving, ice hockey and field hockey and District 4 encompasses all Division III schools in Pennsylvania. Both Barger and Conrad are eligible to earn Capital One Academic All-American honors, which will be announced on Tuesday, June 6.

Barger, a business finance and management major, racked up one of the most illustrious resumes in the athletic department's history. A two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, he was the MAC Scholar Athlete in wrestling in 2017 as well as becoming the first four-time NWCA Scholar All-American in the wrestling program's history and the first three-time All-American. As a senior, the business marketing and finance major finished 36-8 overall with a team-best 16 pins, while finishing sixth at 165 pounds at the NCAA Championships. He took second at the NCAA Mideast Regional and at the MAC Championships. The senior posted a 139-28 record in his career, finishing his time with the blue and gold second in school history in career wins and second with 47 falls.

Conrad, a chemistry major, earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors for a second straight year after going 31-8 overall and finishing fifth at the NCAA Mideast Regional at 174 pounds. He won his first tournament title in college by taking first at the Messiah Invitational and placed at all three other tournaments the Warriors competed in. Conrad, a two-time regional placewinner, is 80-39 in his career with 24 pins. He earned Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2015-16 after going 36-13.

The Warriors enjoyed one of the finest seasons in the 24-year career of head coach Roger Crebs, as the team posted an 18-3 dual meet record, finished third at the Budd Whitehill National Duals, won the RIT Invitational, its first tournament win in 12 years, and also hit a high-water mark by taking seventh at the NCAA Mideast Regional. Crebs also became the school's all-time leader in coaching wins during the season, surpassing the mark of 376 set by Budd Whitehill from 1956-93.
