Brianna Zawadzki inducted into physics honor society

2016 Mar 31

Brianna Zawadzki, a sophomore with a major in physics & astronomy from Austin, Texas, was inducted into the Lycoming College chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Physics Honor Society, during a ceremony on March 23.

Lycoming College is proud to announce its largest number of inductees since the chapter was started in 1973. About 50 percent of physics majors earn an induction into the Lycoming chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma, compared to 35 percent at the national level.

"These students have met stringent academic requirements and demonstrated a high level of professionalism," said David Fisher, Ph.D., physics professor at Lycoming who advises the chapter.

Sigma Pi Sigma honors outstanding scholarship in physics, encourages interest in physics among students at all levels and promotes an appreciation for service of its members. Founded in 1921, Sigma Pi Sigma is a member honor society of the Association of College Honor Societies and has about 75,000 past and present members, who are inducted for a lifetime.
