Jones earns second career all-conference accolades

2017 Jun 8

Senior Bryce Jones (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) was a model of determination during his career with the Lycoming College men's tennis team and that determination paid off on Friday afternoon, May 5, when the conference office announced he is a member of the All-MAC Commonwealth's Second Team.

Jones went 0-12 in his first year for the Warriors as a No. 1 singles player. Holding down the slot for the next four years with the Warriors, he developed into one of the top players in the league, finishing 2016-17 with a 9-11 singles record, including a 3-4 mark in MAC Commonwealth play.

Jones also added a 7-13 mark at No. 1 doubles, splitting time with partners junior Rob Smith (Middleburg, Pa./Selinsgrove) and freshman Mitch Wheary (Lock Haven, Pa./Lock Haven).

The all-conference accolade is the second of Jones' career, as he was also an honorable mention selection in 2015. He is the first Warrior since Jason Mifsud '13, who is now an assistant professor of mathematical science at Lycoming, to earn two All-MAC Commonwealth accolades in his career.

The Warriors finished 6-13 overall under head coach LeRoy Baer and 1-6 in MAC Commonwealth play.
