Kramer earns Academic All-MAC honors

2016 Jul 8

Freshman Emilie Kramer (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) found a spot on the Women's Swimming Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference team, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Tuesday, June 21. The Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes in each sport, as it equally weighs academic success (with a minimum GPA of 3.2 required in the spring 2016 semester) and athletic success. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams. Kramer is just the second swimmer in program history to earn the award, joining Alexia Follweiler, who earned it in 2014 and 2015.

A biology major, Kramer earned five all-conference accolades (four second team and one honorable mention) at the 2016 MAC Championships. In her rookie year, Kramer earned Second Team All-MAC honors in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing sixth with a time of 1:09.76. She also earned Second Team All-MAC with the 200-yard medley (1:54.35) , 200- (1:43.31) and 400-yard freestyle relays (3:46.27). She earned Honorable Mention All-MAC accolades with an eighth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (4:14.59).

The women's swim team finished 6-4 in 2015-16, its 15th straight winning season under head coach Jerry Hammaker, who reached 200 career dual meet wins during the season, having compiled a 98-48 record with the men and a 104-46-1 mark with the women.
