Kunes named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week

For the second straight year, senior Morgan Kunes has started the season with a huge offensive week, helping her earn the MAC Commonwealth's Player of the Week award, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Monday, March 20.

Kunes led the Warriors to a 7-2 week in South Carolina while batting .452 with 14 hits, including eight extra-base hits, 11 runs scored, nine RBIs and a .528 on-base percentage. Kunes recorded a .839 slugging percentage with five doubles, two triples and a home run during the nine-game swing.

The senior recorded six two-hit games and three multi-RBI games. The senior went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs scored, a home run and a triple in a 10-2 win over Wis.-Stout to highlight her trip.

Kunes was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week twice during her junior campaign, earning the award on March 14, 2016 and April 25, 2016.

The Warriors will look to open the Northern part of its schedule on Wednesday, March 22, when it faces Elmira at 3 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
