Lansberry named MAC Wrestler of the Week

2017 Mar 29

After winning a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship in dominating fashion, senior Seth Lansberry (Klingerstown, Pa./Line Mountain) has earned his seventh career Middle Atlantic Conference Wrestler of the Week and second of the season, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Monday, Jan. 23.

The senior ran his winning streak to 31-straight matches on Saturday to claim the 149-pound title at MACs. Lansberry recorded a fall, a tech fall and two major decisions on his way to the title. The senior reached the finals with 19-3 technical fall over Messiah's Adam Peris and then won the title with an 11-3 major decision over Messiah's Stephen Maloney.

The 31-match winning streak is the second-longest in school history, behind only Rob Cosper's school-record 36 set in 1999-00. Lansberry already holds the school record for career wins, boasting a 135-21 record, and his 20 career technical falls is also a school record and his major decision over Maloney tied the school record of 26 set by Andy Lausier (1996-01). His 31 falls are tied for sixth and 53 decisions are tied for fifth in program history. He is the first wrestler in program history to post four 30-win seasons in a career.

The second-ranked 149-pounder in Division III, Lansberry also earned the MAC's Wrestler of the Week award on Nov. 25, 2013, Nov. 17, 2014, Jan. 5, 2015, Jan. 18, 2016, Feb. 8, 2016 and Nov. 14, 2016.
