Lazarich named NSCAA National Player of the Week

2016 Dec 13

With eight goals in a three-game week, junior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) has become the first Lycoming College women's soccer player to earn NCAA Division III National Player of the Week honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the organization office announced on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Lazarich also set a bevy of school records during the week, while providing goals in all three games. She scored one goal with a turnaround move and an 18-yarder over a leaping goalie in a tough 2-1 setback to Susquehanna to open the week.

The junior followed that with three goals in the first 20 minutes of a 9-0 win over Clarks Summit and then ended the week by tying her own school-record with four goals in a 4-0 win over Pitt-Bradford. She is the first player in schools history to record back-to-back hat tricks and her 36 career goals are now tops in the school's record book just three games into her junior year. With 79 career points, she is second in program history, just six behind the school record of 85 set by Bekah Shipe from 2005-08.

Lazarich is the first player in school and MAC Commonwealth history to earn a national player of the week award from the NSCAA.

The Warriors get back on the field on Thursday, Sept. 8, when they head to Dickinson for a 6 p.m. game.
