McGinniss, Lazarich earn all-conference honors

2017 May 5

Lycoming College's sophomore Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and junior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) each earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors, with McGinniss earning first-team accolades and Lazarich picking up second-team honors, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Tuesday, May 2.

McGinniss developed into one of the most dependable players in the MAC Commonwealth this season, posting nine games with at least five points and finishing the regular season leading the league in goals (4.13), points (4.80) and draw controls (6.73) per game. She has also made an impact nationally, sitting 11th in draw controls and 21st in goals per game. McGinniss, a speedy midifielder, is seventh in the country in free-position goals per game (1.40) and she has earned two MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week awards this year.

In just two years with the program, McGinniss is already second in school history with 217 career draw controls, just eight shy of the school record of 225 set by Brooke Strausser (2010-13). She is also 10th with 128 career goals, just five away from reaching seventh in program history. McGinniss is just the fifth midfielder in program history to earn first team all-conference honors.

Lazarich repeats as a Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth midfielder after earning honorable mention all-conference honors as a freshman. She is just the sixth player in program history to earn three all-conference accolades in school history, and she has six total all-conference nods when combined with her three in soccer.

A welcome compliment to McGinniss in the midfield, Lazarich is third in the MAC Commonwealth in goals per game (3.20), fourth in points per game (4.27) and sixth in draw controls (3.73). She leads the team with 1.07 assists per game, which is ninth in the conference, while her 2.07 groundballs per game is 10th in the league. A one-time winner of the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week award, Lazarich has five or more points in eight games this season.

One of the most prolific offensive players in program history, Lazarich is fifth in school history with 196 career points and 61 assists and she is sixth with 135 goals. She is also third with 198 draw controls.
